Four Year B.Tech. Degree Course in Computer Science and Engineering:

The department of Computer Science and Engineering in JIET started its functioning in 1998 for Bachelor's course in Computer Science & Engineering with five bare computer laboratory facilities, and sanction strength of sixty in CSE only. Within a span of eleven years this department has grown rapidly to become the largest department of the institute with an annual intake of 99 students. The computing laboratories of the department are well equipped with high-end servers and are networked. The course cover many aspects of computing, including software issues such as operating systems, databases, programming, computer graphics and multimedia applications. Apart from the compulsory curriculum of the Kurukshetra University, the department offers elective papers in the areas of Fuzzy Logic, Parallel Computing, Software Project Management, Image Processing, VLSI Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Hardware etc. A practical application of the knowledge gained in the theory is considered to be very important in the department. Department has sate of art laboratories which includes Computer Graphics including Multimedia Applications, Software and Computing, Web Engineering and Internet Applications, Operating Systems, Computer Hardware, Troubleshooting and Advance Technology, System Software Lab., Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Assembly language and etc. to help students excel in practical. The department of CSE has following facilities:

Software and Platforms:

SCO Unix, Red Hat Linux, Oracle Internet Developer Suite, IBM Rational Suite, Microsoft Visual Studio, MS Windows NT Workstation, Window XP, Office 2007, Window Vista, MS Small Business Server, Compilers and Assemblers etc.

Hardware:

All labs are equipped with latest P-IV Hyper threading multimedia computer systems. Department has over 300 workstations.

Internet Facility & Connectivity:

2 Mbps line from Sify Broadband. Our network is installed with Intel Xeon Parallel Dual Processor 3.02 Server Microtech Router1721. Network is provided with 4 IP addresses used for connecting with World Wide Web. Wireless Internet Facility is also provided to hostel students and college campus. Department has LAN on 2 Gbps Ethernet/TCP supporting Linux Main Server and Windows Server2003 through manageable switches.
